Learn Talmud – Tractate Berachot – Lesson 13 Daf 5b/6b (Koren Talmud Bavli) – Caring for Another

Rav Huna’s wine goes off becoming vinegar! The Rabbis reprimand him: Perhaps he has done something wrong to deserve such a punishment from Heaven? Rav Huna has what to answer, but realising his mistake, does Teshuvah (repentance) and God makes a miracle for him and he ends up profiting after all!

The Gemara discusses the way in which our beds should be placed when we sleep and why this is so. Thereafter a discussion ensues with regards to praying in a synagogue, and that if there are two worshippers and one leaves early, he will be liable for his actions. He should wait for the other to finish his prayers first.

The Gemara moves onto a mystical section of life – that of demons. Indeed, the Gemara explains, there are demons in the world that surround us at all times. They are the cause of much discomfort for us in so many ways. In our next lesson, we will find out a way of being able to see those demons if we so wish!
