BOOM! New beginnings – for us! It’s been a long road – and now it’s really the start of the road yet again! Here we are just after Rosh Hashanah 5777 launching our new website. New Israeli law requires sites to be web accessible – meaning that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy web content as much as anyone else – or to phrase it differently, those suffering from any type of disability should be allowed equal access to material on the web as those who are healthy in every respect. Colours can make a difference for some. Yet others cannot hear (and require all videos to come with captions throughout the video – or even sign language videos to accompany the original video.) To find out more about the new law, see our page on Web Accessibility Law in Israel.

It’s not only the time invested to make this new site happen – but the money necessary. We have migrated to WordPress and have incurred a variety of additional charges that we weren’t paying when using Weebly. The truth is we are still in need of funds to pay for various necessary services – but have made the leap of faith that all will be well until we are able to afford the further necessary services. This major start is thanks to a donor who was prepared to donate the funds so we could make this start a reality. In truth, I don’t know what we would have done in starting ourselves again without this necessary capital – just to move over! Really, this whole site going up like this is to his credit and we cannot express our thanks enough! If you’d (also) like a share in the growth of this website (and of course everything else we do) and want to find out more about what we need and what we would still like to do – please contact us directly. We would be happy to let you know more about our needs. We really want to make this site into something useful for all – filled with Torah content and interaction. For those who can give, please – whatever you can – make a donation by clicking the button below and choosing your option of help that you can give. There’s a lot that still needs to be done!

For those who are new to this page, Chessed Ve’Emet is an organisation centred around the values of Torah outreach and teaching, as well as acts of kindness (especially to orphans at the time of their wedding.) It was started around 8-9 years ago by Reb Eliyahu and Shoshanah Shear. We’ve gone through a lot together (ourselves!) met so many great and wonderful people (all over the world) and achieved some wonderful goals. We’ve published two books with one translated into Hebrew. One for the kiddies – and one for those wanting a little more Torah in their lives but find themselves lacking the time to invest in their learning (or perhaps wanting a place to begin!)

It’s really time to move on. Where do we want to go?! We have some high goals set ahead of ourselves. Ideally, we’d like to start a Torah learning centre in the holy city of Jerusalem. It would require the purchase of suitable accommodation for those learning in the centre. This is by no means an easy thing – as property in Jerusalem is highly expensive. We are also geared to offering space (in the centre) to those interested in making Aliyah, where they will have the opportunity to put their bags down, spend some time living in Jerusalem – with us – and spend time learning in the Yeshivah/Kollel as well. This will give them the opportunity to explore their Jewish roots in the best possible way.

So many have expressed their interest in spending time in Jerusalem while being close to a Yeshivah – and having the opportunity to travel around and find a place for themselves to live in – to make their Aliyah easier – and we want to help them to make it happen!

We don’t have the personal resources to make their dreams come true – but we have so much going – that we can offer to show them around, offer them some spiritual growth – and be a base for them. While there are hotels and other places of accommodation, costs are exorbitant for the average person. As for general Yeshivah accommodation (for those wanting to explore Israel) – it is not always readily available for older people – who may very well want the experience of the Yeshivah, a place to daven and eat (kosher!) and the opportunity to do their own exploring (or even to at least have assistance from those already in-the-know to begin their adventures.) That’s what we have to offer!

Our having lived in Israel for so many years already and having spent so much time teaching Torah and being involved in outreach, means we can offer this to those in need.

Our goal is to raise the funds to obtain suitable accommodation and to begin our centre in a revealed manner. We want to show people the beauty of living in Israel (especially Jerusalem,) the beauty of Torah, and how special it is (and what a privilege it is) to be able to live an observant life in the holiest land of them all. If you’d like to take your part in our organisation, please contact us to find out more – or become a donor – either once-off, or a partner on a monthly basis – to allow us to move forward, and make our project a reality!

Can’t wait to see how the new year 5777 will be blessed, and we will be able to venture onwards achieving our goals.

Be a part of it – thank you!
