What If the Spirit of Purim Lasted All Year?

On Purim, something remarkable happens. Faces soften. Doors open. Gifts flow. Those who struggle feel seen, and those who give experience the joy of enabling another.

There is simchah not only in receiving — but in enabling.

I have often thought that this beautiful spirit of Purim should not last for only one day.

What if we carried that generosity into the entire year?

There Is Another Kind of Need

Some needs are immediately visible. Others are quieter. One of those is the sincere desire of a person who wants to learn Torah — but simply does not have the financial means to do so.

The need for Torah is real.
And behind every request to learn is a person — a neshamah — hoping for an opportunity to grow.

There Are People Waiting to Learn

Over the course of my teaching, I receive requests from sincere individuals who would like to learn Torah with me but cannot presently afford regular private study.

✍️

Learning Sofrut

A devoted friend in South Africa yearning to study the sacred art and laws of Sofrut seriously.

📖

Consistent Torah Learning

A family of young brothers who were learning consistently, but had to stop when their financial circumstances became difficult.

✨

Deeper Torah Study

A talmid chacham overseas wishing to delve into Otzrot Chaim, but lacking the means for ongoing study.

🌱

A Jewish Journey

A young woman in the midst of conversion whose soul is thirsty for deeper Torah knowledge and guidance.

These are not casual inquiries.
These are people sincerely asking for the opportunity to grow in Torah.

The Challenge

As much as I would love to teach every sincere student regardless of their circumstances, teaching is also part of how I sustain my home and make it possible to continue preparing, learning and teaching.

This creates a difficult balance: How much learning can I give without charge while still remaining able to continue the work itself?

This is where a Torah partner can make an extraordinary difference.

A Three-Way Partnership in Torah

When you sponsor Torah learning, you are not simply making a contribution. You become part of the learning itself.

1

The Student

Receives the opportunity to learn, develop and grow in Torah.

2

The Teacher

Is given the time and ability to prepare, teach and continue learning.

3

You — The Partner

Make that Torah learning possible through your generosity.

You become part of that learning.
Part of that growth.
Part of that light.

What Your Partnership Makes Possible

  • You help another Jew learn and grow when finances might otherwise prevent that learning.
  • You take an active role in helping Torah teaching continue.
  • You help make serious, personal Torah study accessible to students who genuinely value it.
  • You give me more time to prepare and teach lessons with the attention they deserve.
  • You help support the preparation and recording of free Torah material for my wider YouTube audience.
  • You help give me the opportunity to continue my own learning, so that I can continue growing and sharing more Torah with others.
Your partnership can reach far beyond a single lesson. Supporting the time required for learning, preparation and teaching also helps me continue sharing Torah freely with people around the world through my YouTube channel .

Prefer an Ongoing Monthly Partnership?

For those who would like to support my Torah teaching consistently throughout the year, I have also created a Patreon community.

Regular monthly support helps create stability for the teaching, preparation, videos and learning that make this work possible.

From One Day of Giving to a Year of Torah

Purim reminds us how quickly generosity can transform another person’s experience. What appears small to the giver may mean something enormous to the recipient.

The same is true of Torah learning.

A lesson is an hour on a calendar.
But what a person learns in that hour may accompany them for the rest of their life.

Become Part of Someone’s Torah Learning

Somewhere there may be a person who sincerely wants to learn Torah but cannot presently afford the opportunity. Your partnership can help change that.

Whether you help subsidize a student, sponsor a lesson, support several months of learning, or become a regular monthly partner, you are helping Torah reach someone who is actively seeking it.

Thank you for helping Torah continue to grow — one student, one lesson and one neshamah at a time.

With gratitude,
Rabbi Eliyahu Shear
